Love our aesthetic? We’re on the search for a Product Designer. This person will help lead Hot Topic, Box Lunch & Her Universe into the future where websites, apps & stores are seamless, engaging experiences for our customers.

We have a lot going on here at Hot Topic, and 2026 will be a busy year for the digital experiences team. This will be a great opportunity to work on a variety of projects with some awesome & talented people. This role will be onsite 2 days per week in our City of Industry, CA office.

Pay range is $75,000-$95,000

Please note the pay range for this position starts as listed in the job posting, but other factors such as an individual’s education, location, meeting the minimum job requirements for the role, training, and experience, will determine the final salary for potential new hires.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Attend team meetings, daily scrums & project kick-offs
  • Understand product specifications, business goals & user expectations/frustrations
  • Conduct competitive research to document similar challenges & solutions
  • Create wireframes, high-fidelity comps and prototypes
  • Brainstorm & design multiple options, to find the best solution for the project
  • Contribute to and maintain a growing design system to elevate the brand’s visual identity
  • Work directly with product owners, stakeholders & developers to identify & adhere experiences to our standards and requirements
  • Take an active role in learning new skills, overcoming challenges, and engaging with team & cross-functional partners

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience, ideally in eCommerce
  • User Experience fundamentals (Wireframes, User Journeys,  Accessibility Guidelines & Prototypes) Visual Design fundamentals (High Fidelity Mockups, Layout and Visual Hierarchy, Typography, Iconography)
  • Understanding of best practices, patterns & design trends
  • Understanding of platform differences: Mobile Web, Desktop, App (iOS & Android)HTML & CSS fundamentals
  • E-Commerce and User Research experience or understanding
  • Experience with component libraries & frameworks, such as Bootstrap, etc.
  • Previous experience working within a team environment, using agile & lean processes
  • Experience with design and prototyping tools, such as Figma, XD, Sketch etc and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Experience with AI design tools (Figma Make, Cursor, etc)An interest in internet culture and pop-culture, whether it be movies, music, television or animation
  • Good communication skills: written, verbal & visualAn understanding of retail, e-commerce, and marketing fundamentals
